Spring 2012 Playlist

Spring 2012 playlist:

Dancin' in the rain - Shane Harper   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gq1XD2xDASs
  • Living in England, rain is inevitable even in Spring. This is the perfect song to cast a positive light on the dreary, grey skies and Shane Harper's cover of the well known song from the film and musical 'Singing In the Rain' is modern and fresh.
Better - Thomas Fiss    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdWK_NDUZzo
  • Thomas Fiss presents us with a simple, catchy song. The chorus is slightly repetitive and could do with a few more lyrics, but I think the minimalistic approach makes it easy to listen to and the song will easily get stuck in your head.
Blackout - Breathe Carolina  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBZICTaUmU0
  • With a good dance beat and a very electro sound, this is the perfect party song to enjoy late at night with lots of strobe lights handy. That is, if you keep strobe lights in your bedroom closet. If not, then blasting this song through your earphones whilst fist pumping can produce the same effect.
Delanie - The Midsummer Classic  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkHJwpfQT2Q
  • I came across The Midsummer Classic via twitter and although I'm not a huge fan of their other material, this acoustic song has very cute lyrics and the singer's voice sounds awesome. Personally, it makes me want to change my name to Delanie.
Do you feel the love? - Shwayze  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4Ab_1hoSH0
  • I suggest this song should be served with an ice cold drink and lots of friends. Although lyrics such as 'it wasnt that long ago my grandma was the only one that dug my flow' may not be very inspiring, its a fun song thats not designed for serious outlooks on life, but instead encourages optomism and freedom
Everybody Talks - Neon Trees http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psdJcrNda84
  • Another awesome song to chill out to, and eagerly await the summer. From the band that bought you Animal, this is another example that they are more than capable of writing a song that makes you want to sing along very loud to. A personaly favourite song of mine.
Glad You Came - The Wanted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUJP9Zt5ZaE
  • The Wanted are a British group of lads whom I was lucky enough to see in concert at the o2 arena in London in March. English boybands may not have the best reputation but, despite not writing their own music, these boys have very good voices and put a lot of hard work into performing. Glad You Came recently became very big in America.
18th Floor Balcony - Blue October http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOjy22WlWbI
  • So far this playlist has been bursting with party anthems but this is far from that. A song about a perfect relationship built of two soulmates that can even a bring a tear to my eye at times. This song can send me to sleep, in the best way possible.
Wanna Dance With Somebody - Allstar Weekend http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG8CWSMleow
  • This cover of one of the late Whitney Houston's most popular song was written before her demise but released after the world's tragic loss and is an excellent way of celebrating her contribution to music. The boys have put their own spin on it with the verses with light hearted lyrics for teens.
A Twist In My Story - Secondhand Serenade http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5UFCQYUdQM
  • A very emotional song which is an example of heart breaking song writing. The lyrics are beautiful and this is the perfect love song. The raw guitar sound gives it an innocence unlike typical love songs you may hear in the charts. An underated band, in my opinion.
Sitting At Home - Hunter Parrish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FHFgf0__mU
  • Hunter is a Broadway boy but his new EP is very different from the music in Godspell and other musicals. However, he has an amazing voice which is evidence of his time in the theatre. With charming lyrics and a rom-com style beat, Hunter has done an excellent job with this.
When She Was Mine - Lawson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1WcvgYrpUI
  • Lawson are a pretty unknown band in England however their new song has started to get some airplay and I think it is a definite future hit. They sound a bit like The Script or Mcfly and are seriously skilled musicians.
Living Louder - The Cab http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2NYzpStqgU
  • The song that inspired the title of this blog, Living Louder is an inspirational song about living life to the maximum. The Cab are one of my favourite bands and this is just one of their many great hits. I particularly chose this song for the playlist because Spring can be a tough time, with exams and pressures like that, and hopefully rocking out to this can get you through it.
Blame It On The Rain - He Is We http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCca1cOqnpo
  • Another relevant song featuring rain, He is We are definitely a unique band with soft and meaningful music. The lead singer has a really calming voice and this song is particularly beautiful.
Carry On - Fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc-vNR1D4X8&ob=av2e
  • A band that deserve a lot more recognition are Fun., I am really into their music at the moment and this is one of my favourite songs on their album. The instrumentals in the song make it uplifting and they have an older feel about them, much like music from their 70's/80's. Some people are saying they sound a bit like Queen and I have to say I agree, even though those are big boots to fill.
Haven't Had Enough - Marianas Trench http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aokFKX11ZYQ
  • If there is one song that has been in my head the most this year, its this. Marianas Trench are such talented song writers and this is just one of their many awesome songs. Unlike most songs, I might even say the verses are more catchy than the chorus which amazes me. The band Hollywood Ending do a very good cover of this gem so check that out too.
Put In Work - Cris Cab http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSZgDL3Iasw
  • Cris Cab's music has a very modern Caribbean vibe which can easily transport you from a cold day inside to a bright white beach. This track is produced by Wyclef Jean and has an awesome beat. I would say Cris Cab is like a white reggae singer, which certainly extinguishes him from other artists. This track is from his new EP 'Echo Boom'.
